Green Commitment

Our Commitment to the Environment

Ibexis Ltd is committed to adopting environmental best practice in order to minimise our environmental impact, benefiting both the environment and our business effectiveness.

  • Ibexis will meet or exceed all relevant current or expected statutory regulations, official codes of conduct and other requirements that the Company adopts or may adopt in the future
  • Ibexis is committed to improve its environmental performance through a process of continual improvement

In the course of its operations and activities and within resource constraints, Ibexis will improve its environmental performance by managing:

  • Sustainable resource usage
  • Waste minimisation and recycled materials
  • Energy and efficiency
  • Prevention of contamination
  • Purchasing
  • Transportation

Where manufacturers, suppliers and contractors are used Ibexis will specify that where possible such organisations will be certified or self certified to meet the ISO14001- 2004 standard.

Sustainable resource usage

Ibexis will:

  • Conserve energy, water and other resources, particularly those being scarce or non renewable in nature, while still providing a healthy, safe and comfortable working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure that any products used or derived from wildlife are from sustainable sources and comply with EU and international trading rules such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

Waste minimisation and recycled materials

Ibexis will reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by using refurbished and recycled products and materials wherever such alternatives are safe, economical and suitable.

Energy and efficiency

Ibexis will ensure, where practicable, that buildings it occupies are designed, constructed and operated to optimize their environmental performance.

Ibexis will minimise energy consumption by ensuring that any equipment not required will be turned off until it is needed.

Prevention of contamination

Ibexis will monitor relevant discharges and emissions to air, land and water to assess what measures are necessary to reduce pollution or the risk of pollution:

Ibexis will not use (or in limited cases will phase out by a specific date) ozone depleting substances and minimize the release of greenhouse gases, volatile organic compounds, vehicle emissions and other substances damaging to health and the environment.

Purchasing

The Company will monitor its purchases and:

  • Ensure that trends show a reduction in the usage of products which are based on unsustainable or non-recyclable elements.
  • Identify methods to introduce further efficiencies – e.g. less paperwork, more environmentally conscious delivery methods, etc.

The Company will encourage manufacturers, suppliers and contractors through supply and service contracts to improve their environmental performance.

Transportation

The Company’s policy is that staff travelling on business will use public transport in favour of a private or Company car (unless it is impractical, for time or other reasons).

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006

The Company acknowledges its responsibilities under the above regulations to ensure that product it places on to the market is responsibly recycled and disposed of at the end of life.

Ibexis & Native Energy

Ibexis operates its servers in intelligent clusters, which makes us fairly efficient with our infrastructure and power usage. However, internet operations require electricity and the majority of that power is generated from coal-burning power plants. Ibexis, in partnership with Native Energy, is countering our environmental impact by offsetting the power we use from fossil fuels with renewable energy credits. Our goals are to make our server operation completely carbon neutral and to invest in projects that bring more clean energy into the power grid.

You can read more about how this program works on Native Energy's website.
